NEW SINGLE OUT TODAY + NPR/KMUW “A Musical Life: Jerry Leger” segment
Hey Gang,
Hope you’re all well and staying safe. I wanted to send along my brand new single, “Sweep It Under The Rug” which is now out in the world as of this morning. It’s also another Bandcamp Friday (when Bandcamp waives their revenue share), so a good day to download the track and look at other music/merch in my BC store: https://jerryleger.bandcamp.com/track/sweep-it-under-the-rug
The new single is a piano ballad, it was the first song I wrote on a piano we moved into the apartment a few years back. I don’t know exactly where the tune came from but I do have a love of piano ballads written by Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Warren Zevon and others. I hope you enjoy it. “Sweep It Under The Rug” also appears as an extra track on the upcoming Vinyl issue of my 2020 surprise album Songs From The Apartment and as a digital bonus track on the Deluxe Edition of Time Out For Tomorrow, both coming out March 26th and (for the time being) only available to order from my official website store. Take advantage of the pre-order sale: http://jerryleger.com/merch/
Many thanks to AmericanaUK for premiering the new single this morning and spreading the news about the upcoming releases and our 2022 European/UK tour dates announced so far. Check it out here: https://americana-uk.com/track-premiere-jerry-leger-sweep-it-under-the-rug
In other news, I was asked to be part of a series called “A Musical Life” by Jedd Beaudoin for the NPR affiliate station KMUW out of Wichita, Kansas and played over NPR across the United States. I was asked about the differences between my lyrics and my poetry (back in October I put out my first collection of poetry called Just The Night Birds which is also available to order from my Bandcamp and official website stores) and what music first inspired me to do what I do.
