I spoke with Holler in the UK about the making of my new album Nothing Pressing. They have also premiered the brand new music video for “Kill It With Kindness”.
I thought something like those old Laserium shows that were popular in the 70s would be a cool video idea for the song. I brought the idea to Brittany Brooks, she ran with it and incorporated the band and I into the laser show she created. I really dig what Brittany came up with. They would say, “Laserium IS music for your eyes. The song, like a lot of our recordings, we recorded pretty much live in the studio. It has a great rock ‘n’ roll energy that’s to the point. Lyrically, it’s a bit about the power of the mind.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram or Facebook, you may have noticed a couple posts of me talking about records I was listening to during the creation of my new album. I’ve also made a cool playlist of tunes from these different records, including Nick Lowe, Lucinda Williams, Ann Peebles, Blue Rodeo, Bob Dylan, and many more.
